Virginia (Ginny) Porter is first and foremost a disciple of Jesus Christ and a disciple-maker with a passion for fulfilling the Great Commission. In her twenty-five years in women’s ministry, she has filled the roles of Bible teacher, women’s conference speaker, and missionary to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Bolivia. She is currently the Women’s Discipleship Coordinator for Catalyst Missions. After spending many decades sitting at the feet of Jesus and journaling the truths He engraved on her heart, she has taken these lessons and composed a series of reproducible discipling Bible studies for women. “What are people saying about their experiences with the discipleship curriculum?”
After receiving Catalyst training in Guayaramerin, Bolivia, I met a young lady from Argentina. She loved the Lord but was going through a hard time and had fallen into a deep depression. I told her about Strand of Pearls and all I was learning through this study, and she asked if she could join me. Since she lived in Argentina and I was in Bolivia, we had to meet though chat. It wasn’t long before she came out of her depression and God began to heal wounds in both of our lives. I am using this book to disciple ten young ladies. May the Lord continue to bless and multiply this material by equipping women to follow Jesus and make disciples….. Dr. Angelica Tobias – Santa Cruz, Bolivia
I had been in a spiritual rut and praying for a way out when I attended a Catalyst Women’s retreat and received my copy of Strand of Pearls. At the retreat, we learned that our spiritual growth will stall out unless we give out. This reminded me of my purpose on this earth—to know Christ and to make Him known. I asked the Lord to bring a woman into my life whom I could disciple. He did, and she lives just next door! In her sixties and a new believer, she was eager to know the Scriptures. As we study these lessons together, we’re being challenged, encouraged, and blessed by God’s Word. I know it will be a blessing to others as well…. Joy Boyd – Memphis, Tennessee
